Bountiful Stake Directory and Calendar, 1963-64

Latter-day Saints are masters of organization. Today, we can pull LDS Tools up on our phone and find up to date membership lists, contact information, addresses, and even birthdays. Thank you for all of your work, ward clerks.

This was Bishop Glenn Goodrich's LDS Tools in the age before smart phones and personal computers. He served as bishop from August 26, 1962 to October 11, 1964.

What stands out to you in this directory and calendar? That primary was held on Thursdays at 3:45? That Relief Society met at 10 o'clock on Tuesday mornings? What about the stake's two Seventies quorums, the 100th and the 271st? What about Thursday night "Family Nights?"

I was impressed by how full the calendar was. Think of the calendaring sessions to get all of those meetings in order before publication.

Finally, it was fun to see the reminders throughout the pages of the calendar including, "Add spirituality to Your Home by Regular Temple Attendance," "The Era makes a much appreciated gift for weddings, birthdays, and missionaries," and "Fathers - lead your children to Sacrament Meeting and Sunday School."

What can you discover about life in the Bountiful 9th Ward and the Bountiful Utah Stake in 1963 and 1964 from this historical source?
